The Tree Council of the UK, an umbrella organization supported by government and other agencies, set up the Tree Warden Scheme in 1990. The aims of the scheme are to increase public awareness of the value and importance of trees, to encourage planting and maintenance, provide early warning when existing trees are under threat and to provide an inventory of ancient trees. It is run by volunteers.

The purpose of Neighbourhood Watch is to unite neighbourhoods in an effort to prevent crime, by protecting and enhancing their environment and generally looking out for each other’s properties. Working in partnership with the local Neighbourhood Policing Teams gives Neighbourhood Watches a way of dealing with many issues affecting their communities, such as anti-social behaviour, burglary and vehicle crime. The Parish Magazine is the monthly publication of the Anglican benefice of our area. In addition to covering church matters, it is an excellent source of information about what is happening locally. It reports on past events and gives details of coming events. A wide range of local businesses and services advertise in it. And it is delivered to your door. It is well worth getting a copy. Travel Planning in Somerset - Think Travel - New On-Line Travel Planner
Somerset County Council have launched a new online travel planner which is particularly useful for those using public transport and/or residents without easy access to a car. The website also carries information on demand responsive and community transport and has a community board for car sharing.
